Why Not? Asking A Different Question + Exciting Business Updates

Welcome back! Every week we do a Wednesday Why over on our Facebook, hosted by our awesome boss Theresa. It is embedded down below for your viewing pleasure. I also attached a collaboration video with Moniek James from Renegade Creative Media Group. Our first featured warrior in our exciting new project (read more below).

This one will be a little different, it was more of a stream of consciousness from Theresa which brought up a lot of interesting points. We also have several business updates, so enjoy…

Warrior Legacy Project

We have been working on an exciting new project, photographing and asking the stories of the warriors we know and love. Capturing their legacy and putting it into words.

We live in a military town, and it becomes pretty normal for camouflage, war stories, and badges of honor to become a part of our every day scenery and life. We become so accustomed to it that we forget what it is like for these soldiers… To leave their families, their homes, their comforts, to fight for our country abroad or away from home.

The Warrior Legacy Project is here to share the stories of those who have fought and bled for our country.

From a photographers perspective it can be easy to get caught up in other photographers projects and be too intimidated to do your own. Or on the other side of the coin, feel like your project would be a drop in the ocean in comparison to these bigger ones.

But it’s not about impacting millions, it’s about impacting just one person. If one person feels understood, inspired, or cherished… If you impact just one person, isn’t that reason enough?

Theresa (the owner of Angelstorms Photography) was so concerned about doing a project like this justice, capturing the emotions in image and on paper that she has put it off for years. But then her perspective shifted… Shifting instead to making an impact, creating something meaningful, being of help. She realized it doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be done.

I mean… Why not? Why not… try more… do more… experiment more? Who will it hurt? If anything it goes back to the question, who will it help?

Always Create, Always Challenge Yourself

If you want to stand out in this business, among the many photographers springing up out of nowhere, you have to always be evolving. As the saying goes "evolve or die." That doesn't mean work yourself to the bone and go towards an early burnout. It means challenge the way you think, challenge your habits, your editing style, your photography. Never stop creating and never be afraid to tackle something new. Instead of asking why ask... why not?
